What is the RELI Learning Series?

Six online learning sessions, Two-hours (January-May)

Join us for facilitator-led discussions and curriculum developed and inspired by the Smithsonian African American Museum of History and Culture program materials Talking About Race as well as resources from the Minnesota Historical Society.

2024 RELI SCHEDULE:

    • January 11th: Colonialism & Racism in the U.S.: Historical Oppression Lives On

      February 1st: Having Difficult & Necessary Conversations for Change

      February 29th: Race and Experiencing Racism

      March 28th: Why is Whiteness the Norm?

      April 25th: Racial Identities, Social Identities and Systems of Oppression

      May 16th: Being Anti-Racist: Action is Required

The 2024 RELI Learning Series aims to increase understanding about racial equity and empower participants to work for change within themselves, and to lead in their own organizations and communities. We provide a forum to unlearn and relearn from each other and translate new knowledge into action.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The series is designed to help educators and other related folks who connect with child and youth development. Those who work in sectors beyond education can also benefit. Everyone is welcome.

SESSION DETAILS:

All sessions are from 4 – 6 pm Central Time.

A community leader shares their insights on the topic and engages with participants.

Discussions are led by trained facilitators to digest materials, process implications, and generate actions.

Opportunities to practice new skills are offered throughout.

Resources for further learning are part of each session.

Participants can use curricular components for free with their own students, colleagues and communities.
