Participation in RELI contributes to something much bigger than myself.
I Learned to talk about the impacts of whiteness while avoiding using the words that trigger and shut people down.
I will acknowledge and call out the systems that have been created to support and perpetuate whiteness.
Since I am not white, I will continue to help myself and others to understand the underlying thinking around whiteness, especially white superiority.
I now know I need to recognize all of my students' identities and not just one or two of them.
I will be mindful of the privilege I have and model how to use it with my students.
Participants prepare with videos and/or written material from the Smithsonian African American Museum of History and Culture and other resources.
A community leader shares their insights on the topic and launches the discussion groups.
Discussions are led by trained facilitators to digest materials, process their implications, and generate action plans.
Additional resources are generated by producers and participants.
Participants are provided curriculum components to use for free with their own students, colleagues, and communities.
The cost is $150 for the series. Partial and full scholarships available. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
No one will be turned away.
