The day-long Equity-Oriented Leadership Institute aims to bring together leadership teams from educational institutions who are committed to organizational change — addressing institutional racism and creating more equity within their organizations.

Unlike the annual conference, teams have to apply to participate. They commit to: 1) having leaders participate who are in a position to create institutional change (e.g. a board member, superintendent, academic lead, union member, etc.) and 2) initial planning in advance of meeting. During the Institute, teams identify barriers to equity in their organizations and learn about best practices. They end the day with a list of specific goals for the year.

We have held three Institutes since 2015, and will host our fourth in 2018. Three of the three institutes focused specifically on the educational sector, both K-12 and higher education.
